For forty-five years, pianist/composer and Fulbright Scholar ARMEN DONELIAN has distinguished himself in 25 countries as a performer, recording artist, educator and author. Armen’s music reflects a distinctive blend of influences including his Armenian origin, his Classical technique and his association with some of the biggest names in Jazz including Sonny Rollins, Billy Harper, Mongo Santamaria, Chet Baker, Paquito D’Rivera, David Liebman, Sheila Jordan, Jackie Paris and Night Ark. And, according to Metronom Magazine (Istanbul, 1986), he achieves this fusion “In such a natural way that one can tell it’s a master’s work.” Co-founder of Hudson Jazzworks with Marc Mommaas and Professor at New School Jazz for 34 years.

NICK EDWARDS, a Hudson Valley-based bassist deserving wider recognition, has enjoyed a varied career playing music of all genres throughout the United States, South America and Europe. Nick completed his masters degree in jazz studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and has attended many jazz festivals and institutes, including Skidmore Jazz Institute and Hudson JazzWorks. He can frequently be heard playing with Armen Donelian, Roland Vazquez's trio Circle in the Square and for the Rhinebeck Performing Arts Center. In addition to his performing schedule, Nick maintains a studio of students who he teaches bass and coaches chamber music. He can be heard on the Scott Healy album, Live at Kilbourn Hall.

Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, DAVID JIMENEZ, graduated from the New School Jazz Program. As a child, David impressed members of his church and was hired as their main drummer. At 14, he entered a 2-year program at The Juilliard School of Music, studying with Bill Ruyle and Scott Simpson. Subsequently, David studied at the Interschool Orchestra of New York and at The New York Jazz Academy where he studied with Pete Zimmer, both under a full scholarships. In high school, David met saxophonist Charles Evans who introduced him to Jazz. The recipient of numerous awards, David has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Gracie Mansion and worked with top New York musicians including Peter Evans, Michael Webster and Moppa Elliott. He currently teaches at his alma mater, St. Francis Prep High School where he studied Classical percussion performance with Mark Teofilo.

A New York City style Jazz venue, AMITY BLUES, opens each month at the Red Hook Community Center in Red Hook, NY. Parents, family members and guests will hear a range of compositions demonstrating the breadth and skill of the performers. Students, faculty and guest performers will entertain you with the great American art form of Jazz! In addition, its a great date night for couples! Wine, and 4-5 course light meal will be served in a true Jazz Club setting. Doors open at 5:15pm.
